Forio commemorates April 25 with a morning that brings together memory and the present, in the spirit of rights and civic participation. This year’s event carries a special meaning as it combines two key anniversaries: the 81st anniversary of Liberation and the 80th anniversary of women’s right to vote, the central theme of the 2026 ANPI membership card.

The initiative will take place on Saturday, April 25, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, in Piazza Medaglia d’Oro, with an introduction by Nenzi Carcaterra, the launch of the 2026 ANPI membership campaign, and readings by Giuseppe Castiglione.

This will not be a formal commemoration, but a moment of shared reflection. The day will also be dedicated to the memory of Renato Regine, municipal councillor, doctor, and a deeply rooted figure in the local community, who passed away suddenly in 2026. A highly respected professional and a point of reference in the healthcare sector, Renato Regine represented for decades an active presence in public and civic life on the island, with constant commitment to the community and to rights.

His human and political path will be the thread running through the morning—not as a celebration, but as a reflection on a life of daily engagement and consistent civic struggle, often carried out away from the spotlight.

In this way, April 25 returns to its most authentic meaning: not only a date to remember, but a public space in which to reflect on what freedom, participation, and collective responsibility mean today.
