Heidi – A New Adventure, the animated film by Tobias Schwarz, is set in the heart of the Swiss Alps, amid breathtaking landscapes and lush pastures, where the lively eight-year-old Heidi, energetic and kind, enjoys her carefree life with her grandfather—a gruff but loving and devoted man—in their cozy mountain cabin, surrounded by towering peaks and the serene rhythm of the seasons.
Her days pass with small daily adventures, the company of her best friend Peter, a cheerful goat herder, and the boundless beauty of the untouched natural world. But Heidi’s idyllic world changes when she rescues an injured lynx cub that has fallen into a trap set by a cunning industrialist, Mr. Schnaittinger, who has arrived in the picturesque village of Dörfli promising prosperity and modernity through the construction of a large sawmill.
Heidi names the cub Paprika and secretly cares for it in her room to help it recover, forming a deep and risky bond with the wild animal. But when Paprika’s antics and clumsiness attract unwanted attention, Heidi discovers that Schnaittinger’s plans for a destructive sawmill threaten not only Paprika but the entire Alpine ecosystem and the harmony of the village community, already torn between promises of progress and the fear of losing its identity.
Together with her faithful friend Peter and the ever-loyal St. Bernard Joseph, Heidi embarks on a daring nighttime journey to the high peaks to return Paprika to her family in the wild before it’s too late. Along the way, she faces treacherous terrain, fierce weather, the industrialist’s interference, and the dangers of nature, learning the importance of trust, sacrifice, and taking responsibility to protect what she loves and the fragile balance of her mountains.
