Mi Batte il Corazon, directed by Francesco Prisco, tells the story of Peppe Iovine, a journalist working for a small local TV station, used to a quiet, ordinary life without major upheavals.
But everything suddenly changes when he suffers a heart attack and dies—or at least, so it seems. The next day, during his own funeral, Peppe unbelievably wakes up inside his coffin. From that moment on, his existence turns into a paradox. For the state, he is officially dead; for his wife, he is an inexplicable case; and for the neighborhood, he becomes the man who saw Maradona.
Peppe is convinced that he truly met the legendary football champion in the afterlife. Having escaped death, he decides to radically change his attitude. From that moment on, no more compromises or half-truths—only absolute honesty, no matter the cost. However, always telling the truth soon proves to be more complicated than expected.
Amid bureaucratic absurdities, uncomfortable revelations, and moments of unexpected tenderness, Peppe comes to understand that a second chance is not so much about starting over, but about looking within and discovering who you really are…
