Walking the trails 2026 – The Crater Trail of Fondo d’Oglio

From the square of ”Rotaro” in the municipality of Casamicciola, our journey will begin amidst still active fumaroles, ancient craters, and lava domes that have characterized the geological history of the island of Ischia. Following the Fondo d’Oglio trail, we will reach the interior of an ancient extinct volcanic crater where a black Hornbeam has grown at its center, considered ”enchanted” due to the numerous legends surrounding it. Among myrtle plants, pine trees, and numerous species of broom, we will arrive in the Montagnone area, from where we will admire a postcard-worthy view of the port of Ischia, the mainland, and the island of Procida.
During this hike, we will have a tasting of typical products at the ”Sargente Winery.”
