Night of Saint James

GATHERING:
Parish of Santa Maria del Carmine. A brief reflection on the pilgrim's scallop shell will be given by Fra Fedele Mattera, Franciscan friar and pilgrim of the Camino de Santiago.

Blessing of the pilgrims, followed by the departure on foot to the Rectory of Santa Maria Assunta and Saint James (known as San Ciro), accompanied by the sound of the Galician bagpipe (gaita), the symbolic instrument of the Camino.

ROUTE:
Via I Traversa Ciglio and Via Piedicuozzo.

ARRIVAL:
Celebration of the Holy Mass for the First Vespers of the Feast of Saint James, followed by a prayer to the Saint.

Afterwards, everyone is invited to Piazzetta Ciglio for a time of fellowship and live musical entertainment.

Following the ancient tradition of pilgrimages—especially the renowned Camino de Santiago—we too will relive the experience of pilgrimage and entrust ourselves to Saint James the Greater.
