SYNOPSIS
Primavera, directed by Damiano Michieletto, is set in early 18th-century Venice. The Ospedale della Pietà is one of the city’s largest orphanages, but it is also a major center for music.
Its most talented orphan girls are trained in one of the most renowned orchestras in the world. Cecilia (Tecla Insolia) is twenty years old and spends her days playing the violin. She possesses extraordinary talent, but her art is confined within the walls of the orphanage, where she performs only from behind a grate for wealthy benefactors. At night, she retreats into solitude, writing letters to the mother she has never known.
Her life, always trapped within the walls of the institution that raised her, seems destined to remain unchanged—until a sudden arrival disrupts everything.
A new music teacher, Antonio Vivaldi (Michele Riondino), comes to challenge the balance of the orphanage. His arrival transforms Cecilia’s life, opening new doors and new possibilities, bringing with it the promise of a spring that may finally set her free.
