DESCRIPTION:6:30 PMTorre del Molino\nAncient Traces – Earth’s FutureEnviron
mental History in the Middle Ages: Nature\, Society\, Culture\nIn the Midd
le Ages\, life was inseparably connected to nature\, although the percepti
on of nature was constantly evolving. Plants\, animals\, waterways — the e
ntire environment was shaped by human activity\, while transformations in
nature\, in turn\, influenced the lives of communities.\nProfessor Michele

DESCRIPTION:Francis of Assisi: The Suppressed Story\nParis\, year 1266. Bon
aventure of Bagnoregio\, Minister General of the Franciscan Order\, orders
the destruction of all biographies of Saint Francis of Assisi\, who had d
ied forty years earlier.\nIn each of the nearly fifteen hundred convents o
f the order and the four hundred monasteries of the Poor Clares\, the old
biographies are replaced by a new one written by Bonaventure himself\, cal
led the Legenda Maior (“Major Legend”). Monastery by monastery\, convent b
y convent\, the earlier testimonies disappear from archives\, study center
s\, and friars’ reading rooms. From that moment on\, the image of Francis
 becomes that of a simple\, uneducated friar.\nOnly centuries later\, in 18
90\, the Calvinist pastor Paul Sabatier began searching for the missing te
xts — a stubborn investigation lasting decades that ultimately succeeded.
\nChiara Mercuri reconstructs\, on the basis of unofficial sources\, the l
ife and teachings of Francis. What emerges is a previously unseen portrait
of a deeply cultured man\, resolute to the point of severity\, yet loving
toward his companions — Leo\, Clare\, and the others — who together with
him became the driving force behind an extraordinary season of spiritual r
 enewal. https://www.ischiaeventi.com/en/calendar/event/249995-stories-arch

DESCRIPTION:Through a unique musical language that combines barrels\, vats\
, and sickles with more traditional musical instruments\, the Bottari di M
acerata Campania transform peasant rhythms into a vibrant and engaging art
istic experience. Their music tells stories of hardship\, passion\, faith\
, and hope\, blending folk spirit with contemporary sounds.\nThe combinati
on of these percussions and sound textures creates the distinctive style k
nown as Pastellessa. The Battuglie di Pastellessa parade through the stree
ts during the days leading up to the feast of Saint Anthony Abbot on Janua
ry 17. The performers ride on floats built to resemble ships\, inspired by
an ancient legend according to which Saint Anthony arrived from Africa by
boat. Each year\, the entire community joins forces to prepare this event
\, preserving a tradition that is over a thousand years old.\nLike the gro
up STOMP\, the Bottari give musical value to everyday objects. The boundar
y between musical instrument and work tool disappears.\nRhythm thus become
 s a universal\, ritual\, and relational language that engages and unites t
 he audience. https://www.ischiaeventi.com/en/calendar/event/249996-stories

DESCRIPTION:How historical societies faced vulnerability.\nPast societies w
ere often able to care for and support individuals in need. The study of s
keletons reveals people with severe illnesses\, trauma\, or disabilities w
ho survived for long periods thanks to community assistance. Healed fractu
res\, chronic conditions\, and physical deformities become tangible eviden
ce of care and support.\nFrom prehistory to the Middle Ages\, numerous exa
mples emerge of vulnerable individuals who were nonetheless integrated int
o social life. Even ancient populations such as Neanderthals show signs of
caregiving behavior.\nSolidarity thus appears as a deep and ancient trait
of humanity\, essential for collective survival.\nSpeaker:\nSimona Minozz

DESCRIPTION:The “Insigni” Relics\nThe preservation of bodies that became ob

turies\, to conserve what we now call insigni relics.\nThe scientific stud
y of these relics has provided important information for understanding dev
otional practices and how they contributed to restoring visibility to sain
ts or blesseds\, bringing renewed attention to figures often little known
or no longer the focus of particular devotion. In this way\, science does

DESCRIPTION:The effects of carbon dioxide on marine ecosystems\nThe provoca
tive title reflects one of the most insidious challenges of the Anthropoce
ne: the dual nature of human impact on the oceans.\nThe ocean acts as a gi
gantic thermal regulator\, having absorbed over 90% of the excess heat tra
pped by the greenhouse effect over the past century. This leads to rising
average surface temperatures and increasingly frequent and intense marine
heatwaves. At the same time\, the ocean functions as a “carbon sponge\,” a
bsorbing about 25–30% of human CO₂ emissions.\nDuring this talk\, we will
explore how this “double hit” is damaging marine biodiversity. Mediterrane
an and oceanic case studies will be analyzed to understand whether the phy
siological plasticity of local species will be sufficient to ensure ecosys
tem resilience\, or whether we are moving toward an unprecedented biologic
 al simplification in Earth’s history.\nSpeaker:\nValerio ZupoPhD\, researc
